We have to all agree that registries are a modern day and more “PC” way of begging for gifts. It’s great! Nothing makes you feel more powerful than running around Babies R Us with an electronic gun pointing and shooting all items you would love to have for you and your baby. 
Then, someone either in a social group of friends or a work environment will like you enough to throw a party where people can buy your the things you were wanting and 9 times out of 10 the guessing game is removed from the purchase. I LOVE IT!
